In 1941, Orson Welles brought ‘Citizen Kane’ to the big screen. This masterpiece is considered by many critics to be the best film of all time. It is a perfect example of how a character is often only fascinating in flashback.

Rarities of strong character and classics of ambitious viticulture are presented in abundance in the walk-in Othello Vinotheque - ready to be discovered and savoured. Cigars from Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and other historic producing countries are stored in the humidors.

Most guests visit us for an aperitif before dinner – or to wind down afterward. Some, however, like to spend the entire evening with us. For those who don't want to leave the Orson Wine & Cigar Lounge all evening, we offer snacks such as pizza, savory Gersau cheesecake, or a platter of cheese and dried meat specialties.

We have set up the Citizen Kane Cigar Lounge exclusively for our passionate cigar aficionados. In the glow of the flickering open fire and in the haze of the spicy aroma, the past comes alive - that's how enjoyable it is to indulge in the present. It's quite possible that this creates a magical atmosphere, as if the gifted storyteller Orson Welles were joining you.
